Better is the Museum of the Red River in Idabel, half an hour south, which keeps serious pre-Columbian ceramics from the Americas alongside a mounted Acrocanthosaurus atokensis, the Oklahoma state dinosaur named for the county rock it was found in.
What to eat in Broken Bow
Nobody comes to McCurtain County for the cooking, and the honest advice is to shop the Broken Bow supermarkets and cook in the cabin. Out of the cabin, Grateful Head Pizza in Hochatown has a beer garden, Abendigo's does steaks, and fried catfish with hushpuppies is the regional default. Hochatown Distilling and Beavers Bend Brewery both pour on site.
