Climate data
Every climate chart, “best time to visit” verdict, and the Winter Sun Index is computed from the same dataset: 5-year monthly climate normals (average daily high and low, rain days, precipitation) curated per city in our destination database. We compute verdicts with fixed, on-page formulas — we do not hand-adjust individual cities.
Daylight charts
Daylight hours are calculated from each city's latitude using the standard solar-declination formula — computed values, not observations, accurate to within a few minutes for trip-planning purposes.
Trip costs
Per-city trip-cost tools (Paris, Reykjavik, Goa, Montreal, Charleston, Abu Dhabi, Sydney) are hand-researched per city; each tool states what its estimates cover and each itinerary links its sources in plain English. Cities we haven't researched don't get a cost tool — we don't extrapolate.
Rankings
Data tools like Where to go by month and the Winter Sun Index state their scoring formula on the page. Every ranking is reproducible from the published inputs; none is pay-to-place.
How we make money
gotript is an affiliate site. Stay searches hand off to Expedia and Vrbo, and activity links to partners like Viator and GetYourGuide, through tracked links marked sponsored nofollow. We earn a commission on bookings; the price you pay is identical to booking direct. Partners never influence rankings, verdicts, or climate data.
