What first-timers get wrong in Naples
The Circumvesuviana to Pompeii and Sorrento is hot, packed and the most reliably pickpocketed train in Italy; wear bags on your front. Validate tickets. Crossing the road works by moving steadily and predictably so scooters can read you, not by waiting for a gap that never comes. What to eat in Naples

Naples after dark
Piazza Bellini is the anchor: students drink outside on the exposed Greek city walls until very late, spilling through Via Santa Maria di Costantinopoli. Chiaia dresses up, Borgo Marinari sits on the water. Dinner rarely starts before nine and summer bars run past two. Scooters do not slow for pedestrians at any hour, which is part of the character and part of the risk.
