The Toronto Islands ferry delivers that same skyline from the water for a fraction of the money. Casa Loma is an Edwardian rich man's folly, and the Distillery District is Victorian brick and winter markets.

What to eat in Toronto

Kensington Market is the eating destination, with Caribbean patties, Chilean, Portuguese, and vegan counters packed into a few blocks of Victorian houses. The peameal bacon sandwich from Carousel Bakery inside St Lawrence Market is the local signature, and the South Market closes Mondays entirely.
