Fez does not have a night out. Medina lanes empty around ten and the shutters come down, leaving cats and the occasional handcart. Fes's museums, and which one to pick
The Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts occupies a restored eighteenth-century funduq where caravans once stabled below and slept above, and its roof terrace gives the clearest read of the medina's layout you will get. Dar Batha, an Andalusian-Moorish palace, holds the city's blue-and-white ceramic tradition. Borj Nord, a Saadian fort on the northern ridge, keeps the arms collection. The Ibn Danan Synagogue in the Mellah is rarely busy.
