Palermo does not run on the clock visitors expect: many churches shut from about one until four, and kitchens open at half past seven at the very earliest. What's actually worth your time in Palermo

Palermo's museums, and which one to pick

The Catacombe dei Cappuccini hold some eight thousand dressed, mummified Palermitani in corridors sorted by profession, ending at Rosalia Lombardo, embalmed in 1920 and still recognisably a two-year-old.
