Palermo's rain arrives in autumn in short violent bursts that flood the streets and pass within the hour. Wait one out in Palazzo Abatellis, the Cappella Palatina, or the Museo Archeologico Salinas with its Selinunte metopes. The catacombs are underground. Antica Focacceria San Francesco has fed people indoors since 1834, and the Marionette theatre schedules afternoon performances.
