A town of under nine thousand supports a wildly disproportionate bar scene because most of the workforce is young, seasonal and international. What to eat in Banff

Bad weather here often means snow rather than rain, and the answer holds either way: sit in the Upper Hot Springs while it falls on you. Otherwise the Whyte Museum, the tunnels at Cave and Basin, the Banff Park Museum, and the interpretive centre at the gondola summit. Canmore, twenty minutes down the valley, has the Elevation Place climbing wall and pool.
