Cours Julien and Notre-Dame du Mont are the genuine night districts, stepped streets covered in murals with small venues and bars that only fill after ten. La Plaine next door is rowdier. The two metro lines stop well before the bars do, so budget for a taxi or a long uphill walk. The Vieux-Port quays suit aperitif hour rather than late nights.
What to eat in Marseille
Real bouillabaisse is a two-service ritual, broth first and the fish filleted at the table, usually ordered a day ahead and costing upwards of 60 euros a head at Vallon des Auffes places like Chez Fonfon. Bouillabaisse advertised under 30 euros is not bouillabaisse.

The boat to Chateau d'If is 11 euros return with roughly 6 more for the fortress itself. MuCEM is 11 euros and free on first Sundays. A single RTM ticket costs 1.90. A plat around Cours Julien runs 14 to 20 euros, a pastis 4 to 6, and a paper cone of panisses a few euros. Notre-Dame de la Garde charges nothing.
