When the weather turns in Verona

Castelvecchio lets you cross a fortress under cover and the Scarpa route inside runs a solid two hours. Palazzo Maffei is compact and dry. Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore, with its Mantegna altarpiece and bronze doors, repays the walk far better.

Verona after dark
