The R1 and R2 buses along Kukulcan cost about 12 pesos a ride, paid in cash to the driver, and they run through the night. What to eat in Cancún

Every foreign visitor over four owes Quintana Roo the VISITAX, roughly 283 pesos, and airport checkpoints now scan the QR code before security; pay only through the state portal, because lookalike sites charge double. The arrivals hall is thick with timeshare pitches dressed up as transport desks. Pay in pesos, since dollar prices carry a punishing rate. Hotel Zone addresses are kilometre markers, not street numbers.
Cancún after dark
Everything loud is compressed into Punta Cancun around kilometro 9.5, where Coco Bongo, Mandala and Senor Frog's sit within sight of each other. Coco Bongo opens near 9:30pm, starts its acrobatic tribute revue about 10:30 and runs to 3:30am, with midweek entry including drinks from around US$69 and weekends considerably higher. Downtown drinks at Parque de las Palapas instead, cheaper and Mexican, winding down by one.
Cancún with kids, realistically
Beach choice matters more than any ticket here. Playa Langosta and Playa Tortugas on the bay side stay shallow and calm, while Playa Delfines faces the open Caribbean with a shorebreak that knocks small children flat. Ventura Park bundles waterslides and go-karts for school age. The Interactive Aquarium at La Isla suits under-sevens. Hotel Zone pavements are patchy, so the R1 bus beats pushing a stroller.
