Museums are thin here and the worthwhile ones sit in the old town. Thai Hua Museum occupies a former Chinese-language school on Krabi Road and explains why Phuket reads as Hokkien rather than Thai in its buildings and its festivals. What things cost in Phuket

Jet-ski hire carries exactly the same trap. Riding without an international permit means a fine at the checkpoints on the Patong hill road and an insurance policy that will not pay. Airport transfers are fixed-price at the official counter and cheaper than the touts.
What to eat in Phuket
The cooking is Hokkien Chinese underneath: moo hong, pork belly braised with black pepper and garlic, and Phuket-style hokkien mee using thick yellow noodles, both reliably found at Lock Tien in the old town. Rawai's seafood market lets you buy by weight and pay a neighbouring restaurant to cook it.
