The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway leaves the 1905 depot on East Main and follows the old Marietta and North Georgia grade beside the Toccoa to McCaysville and its twin, Copperhill, Tennessee, where a painted blue line down the sidewalk marks the state border. The Toccoa River Swinging Bridge on the Benton MacKaye Trail is a genuine walk. Mercier Orchards earns a stop; the antique blocks downtown are browsing.

The realistic plan is the Expedition Bigfoot collection, an hour or two among the antique malls and galleries along East and West Main, a matinee at the Blue Ridge Community Theater, and Mercier Orchards, which is enormous and entirely under roof. The Aska trails turn to slick red clay and are best skipped.
