Penang with kids, realistically
George Town is compact enough to walk with children, but pavements are broken and often simply absent, so a carrier beats a stroller in the heritage core. Escape Penang at Teluk Bahang is a ropes-and-water park for over-sixes, and Entopia's butterfly enclosure sits nearby. The funicular up Penang Hill is an easy win. What's actually worth your time in Penang
George Town's UNESCO core is walkable and mostly free, and Khoo Kongsi's carved clan house is the finest of the kongsi for a small fee. Penang argues about food more than anything else. Assam laksa at the Air Itam market stall below Kek Lok Si runs RM5 to 9, cash only. Char kway teow is fought over between Lorong Selamat and Siam Road.
