How Abu Dhabi costs actually break down
Abu Dhabi can be pricier than Goa or Reykjavik at the top end, but there’s real free value — the Grand Mosque, the Corniche and the beaches cost nothing. Your daily spend is driven mainly by lodging island and whether you add theme parks or a desert safari. The tiers below are per person per day, excluding flights, and assume the Oct–Apr season.

A budget hotel or shared apartment away from the resort islands, cheap eats (cafeterias, shawarma, food courts), taxis for short hops only, and free sights (Grand Mosque, Corniche, Saadiyat beach). Comfortable, but skip the theme parks and safaris at this tier.

A Saadiyat or Yas resort, restaurant meals without watching the bill, a private driver or car rental, and premium experiences — multiple theme-park days, a guided desert safari with a private camp, or the Qasr Al Watan evening light show. At this tier the constraint is your time and dates (avoid the Grand Prix weekend unless that’s the point), not money.
- Sleep: resort on Saadiyat or Yas — roughly AED 1,200–3,500.
- Food: restaurant meals + drinks — roughly AED 600–1,200.
- Transport + experiences: private driver/car + premium activities — roughly AED 700–1,800.
Where the free value is
The Grand Mosque, the Corniche promenade, Saadiyat’s public beach access and the drive up Jebel Hafeet on an Al Ain day trip all cost nothing beyond getting there. Spend where it counts — a resort night, a theme-park day, a desert safari — and let the free landmarks fill the rest of the trip.
