The airport at Coolangatta straddles the Queensland and New South Wales border, and Queensland skips daylight saving, so summer arrivals confuse everyone. Treating this as a museum city wastes a day. Beyond it sits the volunteer-run Gold Coast and Hinterland Historical Museum in Southport, and then Brisbane, an hour north up the M1.
