When the weather turns in Sydney

Sydney rain arrives as an east coast low rather than drizzle, dumping in hours and then clearing. Because the three big museums are free, a wet day costs nothing: the Australian Museum, the MCA and the Art Gallery's Tank. The Queen Victoria Building's arcades let you cross several blocks under glass, and the Mitchell Reading Room in the State Library on Macquarie Street is a fine place to sit out a storm.
