When the weather turns in Sydney
Sydney rain arrives as an east coast low rather than drizzle, dumping in hours and then clearing. Because the three big museums are free, a wet day costs nothing: the Australian Museum, the MCA and the Art Gallery's Tank. Sydney after dark
The lockout laws imposed in 2014 hollowed out Kings Cross, and although they were scrapped in 2020 the Cross never came back; the crowd moved to Newtown, Enmore Road and the small bars tucked into Surry Hills and Darlinghurst laneways. Most pubs stop serving around midnight midweek. On Friday and Saturday nights the trains run all night, which is the argument for staying out past the last bus.
